Since we had raisins, I tried a cinnamon bread recipe in the bread maker yesterday which did not turn out (surprise!), but I sliced it up for dinner today to make French toast. Apparently it was a first for these kids because my son commented that our dinner tasted, “like French toast sticks.” I explained to himthat the things they serve at school called French toast sticks were actually made to taste like this — real French toast.
You probably know how to make this already, so I won’t do a formal recipe – just whisk two eggs as if you were going to scramble them, with a splash of milk. You can sprinkle in some nutmeg or cinnamon if you want. Dip sliced bread in the egg mixture then put it on a buttered griddle or oiled frying pan until brown. If you want it to look fancy, sift some powdered sugar over the top and put sliced fruit next to it.
