Herb Haircuts

Herb Haircuts
Two planters of herbs after their haircuts.

This is going to be an herb extravaganza weekend because we have been getting so much rain that the herbs are growing out of their planters. If I don’t give them all haircuts, I’m going to need to build an addition onto the back porch. Right now there are parsley, cilantro, dill, and basil.

I have a weekend project of putting in a large shade bed around the hemlock tree. I bought the plants weeks ago and one is dead already. Tony is scheduled to make a lasagna. I won’t provide the recipe because he uses the recipe on the lasagne box but doubles it because we have quite a massive lasagna pan, although it’s miniscule compared to his mother’s. She emigrated here from Calabria, Italy, when she was 19 and she has a lot of Italian specialties of course, but doesn’t do anything small – or without fresh bread and pasta.

I was happy to be able to provide ¼ cup of chopped fresh parsley to stir into the ricotta cheese.
